Small School

Every once in a while a student steps up and absolutely amazes you with their skill and knowledge. You are about to see and hear what impressed me so much today. Burke Atkerson, a senior at Forsan High School along with friends Levi Johnson, Brandon Tant, and the Forsan High School Multimedia class created two computer videos to be presented to our legislative representatives in Austin. As you know the push is on to gradually squeeze out the smaller school districts to save state funds. They have no idea the impact the small schools have on our local communities, state, and nation. Burke and his friends used the skills learned at school and on their own to produce the following presentations to encourage our representatives to represent us.

I know we get discouraged at times with the continual bad news from Austin, but when you see and hear what our kids have accomplished you realize some parents, students, teachers, and small towns did it right and we are worth the effort.
