Introduction
The Big Spring Vocal Music department
offers experiences and skills that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Singing is one of the most rewarding
activities creative students can pursue.
Our choirs provide numerous opportunities and benefits throughout the

Student Goals and Objectives
The Choir department strives
to promote the following attributes in each student:
A positive
self-image and feeling of confidence and self-worth
A foundation of
music so the student can read music, evaluate the performance of self and
others, and have an aesthetic appreciation of music
An understanding,
respect, and love for music
Self-discipline,
self-control, and a sense of responsibility
A better
understanding of the intrinsic relationship between hard work and rewarding
success
Grading Components
Participation – 50%
- Consists of being a daily positive team member in class, attending extra
rehearsals, participating in concerts, and participating in contests
Tests and
Performances – 50% - Consists of written theory tests, audio sight-reading
tests, rhythmic tests, and audio singing tests and Performances
