Two groups from Forsan attended the Big
Spring Area Day at the Capital on April 27, 2005. The high school
Gifted and Talented students and four junior high students made the
trip. The FHS students distributed invitations to a Chamber of Commerce
reception which took place on the lawn of the capital. They also
watched proceedings on both the senate and house of representatives
sides of the legislature during the reading of the proclamation making
April 27th "Big Spring Area Day at the Capital." The junior high
students were selected by their Texas history teacher to be official
pages for Representative Pete Laney. These four students helped deliver
messages, ran errands, and collected documents for Mr. Laney and the
Sergeant At Arms office. Senator Kel Seliger's office assisted the
Chamber in organizing the events. FISD thanks both Senator Seliger and
Representative Laney for their efforts to enrich the education of our
students.
