FHS names top students


Kayla Spence and Audrey Montgomery

FORSAN — Forsan High School officials have announced that Kayla Spence and Audrey Montgomery are the top graduates of the Class of 2006.

Spence, the daughter of Paul and Beth Spence, is class valedictorian. She is a four-year member of the student council, serving as president this year.

She is a recipient of the Optimist Club Youth Achievement Award, is a member of the National Honor Society and is listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

Her activities in high school included the band (four years) and athletics, where she lettered in basketball and track and field. She also participated on the cross-examination debate team for two years and the school’s UIL spelling team.

She has been class favorite girl for two years, class duchess her junior year and homecoming queen her senior year.

Away from school, she is active in nursing home and apartment ministries through First Baptist Church and has participated in Project Hope.

Montgomery, the daughter of Tommy and Debra Montgomery, is class salutatorian. She is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, a four-year member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students and a two-year member of the National Honor Society, as well as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

She has been active in band, twirling, UIL, tennis, golf and basketball throughout her high school career, qualifying for state competition in UIL twirling solo and ensemble competition the past four years.

In addition, she was a regional qualifier in Mathematics and a state qualifier in Number Sense her sophomore and senior years.

She is a member of the FHS tennis team, which qualified for state team tennis competition this year.

The FHS Class of 2006 will hold commencement exercises at 8 p.m. Friday in the high school gymnasium.

Members of the Class of 2006 are Anthony Acosta, Tye Baker, Taylor Barber, Kimberly Berry, Dawnia Burney, Samantha Charlton, Steven Chavez, Melissa Daniels, Samantha Flores, Justin Forshee, Amanda Foster, Laura Hale and Alyssa Hodnett.

Also, Casey Huitt, Andam Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Claire Koenes, Shawn Lawson, Shelby Lefever, Hayley Lewis, Bryce Lopez, Rosie Martinez, Marissa McDonald, Victoria McDowell and Jobeth Miranda.

Also, Audrey Montgomery, Jonathan Moore, Mitchell Murray, Amber Nichols, Kayla Nichols, Josh Paredez, Tyler Phillips, Shiloh Pool, Matthew Posey, Jarrod Price, Merced Sanchez, Shiloh Sanders and Brandon Sandridge.

Also, Brody Smith, Kayla Spence, Clinton Stanley, Jon Sutton and Jessica Wright.

Graduation exercises will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the high school gym.
