Dreams 'shattered,' lives hopefully saved

Herald Staff Report
-
Coahoma High School was the sight of a terrible accident today.
A mock driving-while-intoxicated fatality accident left many youths’ future shattered as much as their “broken” bodies.
The staged event’s purpose was to bring home to area youths the devastating consequences that may occur with underage drinking and driving.
“Shattered Dreams,” a two-day program presented by Victim Services, local law enforcement and emergency services in conjunction with both Coahoma and Forsan high schools. began this morning outside of Coahoma High School.
Area high school students watched as law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the mock accident and attempted to save the lives of the volunteer students involved.
Following in the afternoon, the alleged drunk driver was to be put on trial at Forsan High School in front of an assembly.
Tuesday, a video tape presentation of the the program will be shown at an 9 a.m. assembly at the Big Spring High School auditorium, 707 E. 11th Place. The public is invited to attend and several guest speakers will talk.
“Shattered Dreams” was staged last year by Big Spring High School.
