In addition to Forsan, the district serves the community of Elbow and rural areas in southeastern Howard County. Forsan's first school opened in 1928. The Elbow Common School District consolidated with Forsan in 1960. The district serves more than 700 students.
District Calendar 2016-2017
On October 31st Forsan ISD will have a ‘Flex Day’. This means not all students need to attend school on Monday October 31st. Parents will be notified by October 25th whether their student needs to attend on that day. Invited high school students will attend all day and elementary students will attend only during the morning sessions until 12 noon.
Our community continues to be hit hard by the downturn in the oilfield. Please remember that Forsan ISD offers Free or Reduced price breakfast and lunch meals. If your family is suffering through the loss of a job, please feel free to contact us about the possibility of help in this manner. Mrs. Thomas, our Food Services Director, handles the paperwork processing. It is confidential and relatively easy. There is an on-line application to make it even more confidential and easy. Mrs. Thomas can be reached at 457-0091, extension 207.
